Ruth Githuka | From training to working as a spa therapist
Ruth Gothuka graduated from OICB with a qualification in CIDESCO Beauty & Spa Management qualification. Ruth now works for a prestigious award-winning airline as a spa therapist.
Why did you choose OICB for your Spa Management Course?
I was shopping for a school and made an enquiry at OICB ,during the initial interaction they were prompt and offered lots of vast knowledge regarding Beauty and spa management course.Everything aligned with my goals and values. Also from people who had attended the institution i gathered that OICB has a reputation for producing skilled graduates and this gave me confidence that I was investing in the right place.
What was your option of the training and support OICB provided?
The trainers are so committed in their work. My course was online and from the classes to the CIDESCO exam preparations I was guided and provided with sufficient time frames, materials and information for the course. All the way up to when I was personally called to say I had passed and to receiving my diploma when it was posted to me in Kenya! Since then I know I can get in touch whenever and my most recent reference from Heidi helped me get my current job, which I love! The supportive creative environment at OICB is everything to write home about.
How did you feel after graduating?
A strong foundation on professionalism and passion for beauty had been laid. I can confidently say I am prepared for real world success in the industry. Not only that but I have a passion for the industry and look forward to more professional development and growth. Without strong foundations, I wouldn’t feel as well prepared and equipped for success.
What are you doing now and how has OICB supported your career growth?
I work for a prestigious award winning airline as a spa therapist .The beauty and spa management course has supported me in making informed proposals that have improved our spa operations.
What are your plans for the future?
To transition to a consultant role and to play a vital role in shaping up the spas/wellness spaces to improve their systems for success, reputation, and profitability of a spa. Literally carry the brands vision. I can confidently say I am sufficiently equipped and up to task.
